 Comer Health & Rehabilitation, Georgia

"My facility Comer Health & Rehabilitation in Comer, Georgia USA participated in World Wide Pressure Injury Prevention Day 2024. Prevention is the responsibility of everyone- no matter where or what part of the world you are in.

Prevention comes together like a quilt- each department represents a quilt square and what they provide for prevention is the stitching that holds the quilt together. The more departments/families that come together make the prevention hold together better. At Comer we are a family coming together with care, compassion and love.  This was posted at our entrance for families, visitors and all staff to view all through the day. Education given to all as to how important each and every one is in the prevention of pressure injury prevention. Families and visitors as well enjoyed the quilt and information and voiced better understanding of prevention."

After the meeting we take decorated carts with hot drinks and snacks around to the nursing units. We also give out the NPIAP Stop Pressure Injury Buttons and the NPIAP Stop PI Fact Sheet.

We did this last year and the drinks, snacks and pressure injury information were well received by staff. They like having the color visual reference to refer to and it reminds everyone to implement pressure injury prevention measures."

The Department of Wound and Ostomy, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center

"CSMC will celebrate the World Wide Pressure Injury Prevention 2021 not only for a day but for a week.

The Pressure Injury Prevention week will start on November 11th and end on November 18th. November 11th is the day that we are going to conduct our Pressure injury prevalence survey with the hospital’s Pressure Ulcer/ Injury Prevention (PUP) stars. We are going to wear our Pressure Injury Awareness shirts and NPIAP’s “STOP PI” buttons. We started wearing our shirts last year when we created our hospital wide HAPI Prevention Taskforce. The CSMC WOC nurses, PUP stars and Nurse leaders wear the shirts and buttons on PI prevalence days every quarter.

We will display the NPIAP posters for the entire week, and for 2 hours each day of the week we will visit each nursing unit and bring our “STOP PI cart” with activities promoting Pressure injury prevention, identification and staging of Pressure injuries utilizing the buttock model, use of appropriate skin and wound care interventions with giveaways and prizes. We will use “spin the wheel” for skin and wound care interventions game and the “pin the tail” game on the buttock map (Berke/Morris 2015) for more fun and excitement in identifying PI locations.

Thank you NPIAP for helping us celebrate World Wide Pressure Injury prevention, please find attached photos of our WOCN team."
