S3I Fall Meeting

On September 30 – October 1, 2021, the Support Surface Standards Initiative (S3I) Committee held its Fall 2021 meeting.  Forty-five participants including researchers, clinicians, manufacturers, and testing laboratory professionals.  The committee identified new working groups to focus on Standards for bariatric support surfaces and Guidance document development on both interface products and test deviations.  A proposed Alternating Pressure test standard is continuing through validation testing before it becomes a published standard.  The Publication group announced a new published article on Guidance for use of the Standards as well as continuing work on several more clinical translation articles.  While monthly working group meetings continue, the next S3I Spring meeting is slated for April 2022.
