Call for 2025 NPIAP Award Nominations

The 2025 NPIAP Awards nominations are now open! This is your chance to recognize individuals and organizations that have made exceptional contributions to pressure injury prevention.

There are five prestigious awards, and winners will be honored at the NPIAP 2025 Annual Conference. Nominations must be submitted by current NPIAP Panel Members or Supporters, and a nomination letter is required.

JoAnn Maklebust Lifetime Achievement Award:

The NPIAP JoAnn Maklebust Lifetime Achievement Award was created in 2013 and is named in honor and in memory of NPIAP Alumna JoAnn Maklebust. This award is presented to an individual who has made significant contributions to the NPIAP and to preventing and treating pressure injuries.

 

Kosiak Award:

The NPIAP Kosiak Award is presented to a person or persons who have made significant contributions to the prevention and/or treatment of pressure injuries through their leadership in the fields of research, education and/or patient care. The award is named in honor of Dr. Michael Kosiak for his classic, original contributions on the etiology of pressure ulcers.

 

Roberta S. Abruzzese Award:

The NPIAP Dr. Roberta S. Abruzzese Award recognizes a student with interest and promise in the field of pressure injury research, treatment and prevention or education. The award is named in honor of Alumna Dr. Roberta S. Abruzzese for her vision, leadership and support in promoting educational endeavors in relation to pressure injury management. The Abruzzese Award provides "travel funds to student(s) showing interest and promise in the field of pressure injury research, treatment, prevention or education". Actual award based on reimbursement of expenses but not to exceed $1,500.

 

The Janet Cuddigan Research Award:

The Janet Cuddigan Research Award is presented to a person or persons who have made significant contributions to the prevention and/or treatment of pressure injuries through the generation and dissemination of new research that will significantly impact the cornerstones of future clinical practice guidelines.

 

Thomas Stewart Founder's Award:

The NPIAP Thomas Steward Founder’s Award is presented a person or persons who have made significant contributions to the field of pressure injury prevention and treatment, particularly relating to public policy. This prestigious award reflects NPIAP’s ongoing commitment to positively impact public policy to improve the field of pressure ulcer prevention, treatment, education and patient care.
